If I don’t correct my dog, how will she know what NOT to do?
It’s easier (and more fun) to just teach your dog what TO do. If you prefer that your dog doesn’t jump on furniture, just teach/reinforce her for relaxing in the areas that are just for her! That is so much more simple than constantly scolding/correcting for getting on anything else in the house!
How do I choose a good trainer?
There are many “professional” dog trainers out there with little or no formal training or education. Do your research. The Karen Pryor Academy, Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers, IAABC, and Pet Professional Guild are a few of the trustworthy organizations for Professional Trainer and Behavioral Consulting certifying agencies.
